About New Jersey Anglers
New Jersey Anglers is the Garden State's most comprehensive real-time fishing resource. We aggregate live data from federal science agencies and combine it with decades of local fishing knowledge to give every angler โ from first-timers to tournament veterans โ the information they need to make the most of their time on the water.
Our Mission
Our goal is simple: help New Jersey anglers fish smarter. Fishing success depends on conditions that change hour by hour โ tides, water temperature, wind direction, barometric pressure, and species migration. We built this platform so you never have to check five different government websites before heading out. Everything you need is in one place, updated automatically, and tailored to the specific zone you plan to fish.
Where Our Data Comes From
Accuracy matters when you're deciding whether to set the alarm for 4 AM. That's why we pull data directly from the agencies responsible for monitoring U.S. waters:
- NOAA Tides & Currents โ Real-time and predicted tide data from stations at Sandy Hook, Atlantic City, Barnegat Inlet, Cape May, and other key points along the Jersey coastline. We display both predicted and observed water levels so you know exactly what the tide is doing right now.
- NDBC (National Data Buoy Center) โ Live wave height, swell period, water temperature, and wind readings from offshore buoys including Buoy 44025 (Long Island), 44009 (Delaware Bay), 44065 (New York Harbor), and 44091 (Barnegat). This data powers our offshore conditions dashboard and safety assessments.
- USGS Water Resources โ Stream flow rates, gauge heights, and water temperatures from gauging stations on the Manasquan River, Toms River, Mullica River, and other freshwater systems. We use this data to evaluate conditions for trout, bass, and panfish fishing.
- National Weather Service (NWS) โ Coastal weather advisories, marine forecasts, and storm warnings. Active alerts are displayed prominently on every dashboard page so you stay safe on the water.
What We Cover
New Jersey offers an extraordinary range of fishing opportunities packed into 130 miles of coastline, thousands of acres of back bays, and hundreds of freshwater lakes and rivers. Our platform covers all of it:
- Shore Fishing โ Surf, jetty, inlet, bay, and pier fishing from Sandy Hook to Cape May Point. We track 132 zones with real-time tide, wind, and species data for each.
- Freshwater Fishing โ Lakes, rivers, ponds, and stocked trout streams across every county. Live USGS water levels and temperatures help you pick the right spot on the right day.
- Offshore Fishing โ Canyon trips (Hudson, Baltimore, Wilmington), reef and wreck fishing, and party boat conditions. Buoy data tells you if it's safe to run offshore before you leave the dock.
- Crabbing & Clamming โ Blue crab and hard clam spots across Barnegat Bay, Great Bay, Delaware Bay, and the back bays. Seasonal status, regulations, gear checklists, and spot guides.
Built by Anglers, for Anglers
New Jersey Anglers was created by fishermen who grew up casting bunker chunks off Island Beach State Park and drifting bucktails through the Manasquan Inlet. We know the difference between a northeast blow that kills the bite and a southwest wind that stacks bait against the beach. That local knowledge is baked into every feature โ from the zone-specific fishing advice on the homepage to the tide-strategy ratings on each spot card.
We are not affiliated with NOAA, the National Weather Service, USGS, or the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife. We use their publicly available data feeds to power our dashboards and give proper attribution throughout the site.
Local Business Directory
A great fishing trip often starts at a good bait shop. Our business directory connects anglers with local charter boats, bait and tackle shops, marinas, and boat ramps across the state. If you run a fishing-related business in New Jersey, you can list your business to reach thousands of active anglers every month.
